A Buffalo man who admitted robbing and raping a 7-Eleven store clerk is going to prison for the next 25 years.
Michael Sanchez, 28, entered the store at Niagara Street near Hertel in Buffalo around 4:45 a.m. on February 22, 2015 and robbed the 20-year-old clerk of cash and cigarettes. He then grabbed the clerk and forced her into a back office, where he raped and sodomized her.
Sanchez then demanded the store surveillance tapes and was making his way to the front of the store with the victim when a Buffalo News deliveryman entered the store. Sanchez fled and the deliveryman locked the door while the victim called 911.
Buffalo Police caught Sanchez just a block from the store. He was then positively identified by the victim and deliveryman.
Sanchez pleaded guilty to first degree rape, third degree robbery and two counts of first degree criminal sexual act last November.
