Accident closes I-290 West beyond Exit 5

An accident involving a tanker truck closed I-290 West early Saturday morning.

The roadway was reported closed beyond Exit 5 (Millersport HIghway) at 4:16am. An hour and a half later, a tow truck could be seen arriving to remove the tanker truck. It remains unclear what caused the accident or if more vehicles were involved.

The roadway was closed to Exit 4 (I-990) for more than three hours. It has since re-opened.
