An Albion teen found dead in the Erie Canal died while on a bike ride to his girlfriend's house in the Town of Gaines.
The Orleans County Sheriff's Office said 17-year-old Raymond Kingdollar was riding along the canal on Tow Path near Gaines Basin Road toward Eagle Harbor when he rode into the canal water and accidentally drowned. They believe it happened after 10 p.m. last Thursday.
Investigators believe Kingdollar was riding along a dark portion of the path an did not realize he had gone off the path and into the water. Sources told deputies Kingdollar did not know how to swim.
Kingdollar's body was found Monday evening near Gaines Basin Road. The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office said Kingdollar had no trauma, marks or injuries to his body. Toxicology results are pending.
