Posted

A Machias man is facing a number of charges after state police say he opened fire on his neighbor following a fight over snowblowing.

Investigators say Albert Howard, 56, got into a physical and verbal altercation about 10:30 Wednesday night on McKinstry Road.

At some point, police say Howard got a shotgun and shot out the tires of his neighbor's vehicle while his neighbor was sitting inside.

Howard was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Following his arraignment, he was locked up in Cattaraugus County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
