An explosion on a boat in the Newfane Marina has injured a man onboard.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says it received a 911 call about the explosion, and sent deputies and members of the Olcott and Miller Hose Volunteer Fire Companies to the scene.

The man injured on the boat was attended to at the scene and taken by Mercy Flight to the Erie County Medical Center. He was treated for a head injury.

Deputies say the explosion was caused from insufficient ventilation in the engine compartment of the 23 foot Bayliner.
