State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia has ordered a hearing in the case of Buffalo City School District Board of Education v. Carl Paladino.
The hearing is in response to a petition submitted by the Board of Education, which accused Paladino of disclosing confidential information that was obtained in two separate executive sessions in late 2016.
One of the alleged disclosures was in an essay Paladino published in Artvoice on January 5, 2017, according to the official Order to Show Claim by the State Education Commissioner. The Board of Education alleges Paladino disclosed personnel matter, information about collective bargaining negotiations, and confidential attorney-client communication.
The Board of Education considers this a willful violation of his board member duties.
Paladino declined to comment.
The hearing is scheduled for June 22nd at 9 a.m. at the State Education Department building in Albany.
