Firefighters were called to a two-alarm fire at a vacant house in Buffalo early Wednesday morning.
First responders were called to the scene at 223 East Ferry Street around midnight. Firefighters had to fight back flames at the vacant two-story building from a defensive position, without entering the structure. Heavy flames and smoke caused exposure damage to buildings on East Ferry Street and on Verplanck Street.
No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters estimate $200,000 in damage to the main structure and $25,000 in exposure damage to the neighboring buildings. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the division chief tells 7 Eyewitness News they have not ruled out foul play.
