In an effort to empower more people with life-saving skills, American Medical Response is offering free CPR training.
Sessions were held at the Erie County Medical Center Wednesday.
“This is national ems week. and as a part of our festivities we're participating in the world CPR challenge at ECMC,” EMS Director Scott Wander said.
Specifically, people were being taught the “compression only” technique. They press on a victim’s chest in a hard, fast rhythm to keep blood flowing through their body. Experts say this kind of CPR can double or even triple a cardiac arrest patient’s chance of survival.
