Governor Cuomo has announced a tractor ban on the New York State Thruway and select interstates across New York as blizzard and winter storm warnings are in effect across the state.

The ban went into effect at 9 a.m. on Tuesday on I-81, I-84, I-86/Route17, I-88 and the Thruway.

The Governor also announced a full travel ban in Broome County.

Western New York, including Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties, are currently part of a winter storm warning.

7 Eyewitness News Reporter Ed Reilly spent the day talking with truck drivers.  While some thought NYS "jumped the gun" with the ban, others thought it was better to be "safe than sorry."

However, all drivers believe people will feel the impact of the tractor trailer ban because it will take drivers a few days to catch up and resupply local stores.
