Just minutes after Ohio State University learned of an active shooter situation on campus, administrators sent a tweet, advising students and faculty to "run, hide, and fight."
The advice is deemed a "proper response" to an active shooter or violent attack by the Department of Homeland Security, and is practiced and preached at Universities across the nation including schools in Western New York.
"When you go into a room look for exits in case something happens in a particular area," Buffalo State University Police Chief Peter Carey tells 7 Eyewitness News.
Chief Carey says the "run, hide, fight" method is taught to incoming freshman at Buffalo State during college orientation.
