TOWN OF AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A pair of lifeguards are being credited for their vigilance after a 12-year-old boy nearly drowned during a field trip on Wednesday.
According to East Aurora Police, the student was spotted under the water in the deep end of the pool at the Town of Aurora Community Pool. The lifeguards jumped into action, pulling the 6th grader from the pool and started performing, "rescue breaths." Police say the boy did regain consciousness and did start breathing on his own.
The boy was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital for evaluation. Investigators say the boy's 6th grade class from East Aurora Middle School was at the community pool on a field trip.
