Scott Leffler, a well-known journalist who covers Lockport, is now facing several charges after a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend on May 18th.

According to court documents, Leffler, 41, refused to leave the Lockport apartment of Heather Grimmer, 35, after spending the night. Grimmer told police that Leffler pushed her down, knelt on her with legs across her midsection and neck, while Leffler put a handcuff on the woman's left wrist and attempted to put one on her right arm.

Grimmer said she was fearful of passing out and was able to free herself and call 911. Leffler was arrested without incident.

In a statement to police, Scott Leffler said she was trying to get away.

Lockport Police charged Leffler with menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and harassment.

Three of the charges are misdemeanors with the harassment charge being a violation.

Leffler was released on his own recognizance and he is scheduled to return to court on June 1st at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference.

Both Leffler and Grimmer are co-publishers of the East Niagara Post, an online independent news website. Leffler previously worked for the Lockport Union Sun & Journal and WLVL radio. He currently hosts radio shows and podcasts on the internet.

Grimmer is owner of the Art 247 Gallery on Market Street, Lockport.
