Niagara SPCA looking for person who shot cat with pellet gun

Posted

The Niagara County SPCA needs your help finding the person responsible for shooting a cat with a pellet gun. A woman caring for community cats in the area for over two years says Cali the cat came home Monday dragging herself by her front paws.

Cali was taken to the Niagara SPCA immediately. The next day she was sent to the Central Park Animal Hospital where she was anesthetized and x-rayed. Veterinarians found a bb from a pellet gun lodged in her spine. They say it caused back-end paralysis in the animal. Cali was then euthanized while still under anesthesia.

Cali’s caregiver says the cat roamed Niagara Falls, near Garden Avenue and Aaron Griffon Way.

Aggravated animal cruelty is a felony in the State of New York punishable by up to two years behind bars.

Niagara SPCA is asking for anyone with information in this case to call Officer Lauren Zaninovich at 716-731-4368, extension 302.
