Wednesday's accident happened at Thistle Avenue at 6:40 a.m. A 22-year-old woman was hit by a car as she was crossing the street, according to police. There is no crosswalk or signal in the area.
The victim is an employee of Checkers, according to the general manager. The restaurant is in the same area where she was trying to cross. Checkers wants a light and crosswalk put in at the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Thistle Avenue where the accident happened. For now, the general manager at Checkers is advising all employees to exclusively use the crosswalk down the street.
Police say the woman is at Erie County Medical Center. The Checkers general manager says she has a broken hip, leg and arm.
No charges have been filed at this time.
