A Marilla fire official said that one person was found dead after a trailer home caught fire Wednesday night.
The fire was located in a trailer park off Hemstreet Road.
The Marilla Fire Company was alerted to the fire around 10:30 p.m. and crews found heavy fire in the rear of the building when they arrived on location.
“Our crews established a hand line and a search team, made entry into the building and experienced heavy fire and smoke conditions,” said William Blarr, Chief of the Marilla Fire Company.
It was at that time firefighters found the unidentified person. The cause of death will be determined by the Erie County Medical Examiner.
Blarr said the Erie County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. 7 Eyewitness News reached out the to department’s spokesperson by email, but we haven’t received a response.
No one else was hurt.
