A man who was driving drunk when he backed over a woman this past August, killing her, is going to prison.
Rickey Mellerson, 54, was sentenced Friday to three to nine years in prison. He pleaded guilty to first degree vehicular manslaughter in October.
Mellerson was intoxicated with a BAC of .20 percent on August 23 when he drove his vehicle in reverse through a parking lot and into an adjacent community garden, striking 26-year-old Kimberly Thompson as she sat in a chair. Thompson was killed.
The Buffalo man could have faced five to 15 years in prison.
