"The Donald" may not have been at last night's debate, but our PolitiFact team was still watching Trump's words. He hosted a fundraiser for military veterans in Des Moines, Iowa.
His boycott is seen as part of his ongoing war against Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. But Trump says, that is not true.
"I'm not a person that respects Megyn Kelly very much," Trump says. "I think she's highly underrated."
"I never once asked that she be removed," Trump added. "I don't care about her being removed. What I didn't like was that public relations statement where they were sort of taunting. I didn't hink it was appropriate. I didn't think it was nice."
PolitiFact rating: False
The PolitiFact team found Trump to be completely false about never asking Kelly to be removed. Trump greatly downplays how he's responded leading up to the debate.
He's gone so far as to say Kelly should not be allowed to moderate, she should recuse herself, and shouldn't be in the debate.
