Officials estimate there is an equivalent of six to eight inches of water. The weight on roofs is enormous and will only increase with each passing hour the snow falls Thursday.
A warehouse on Union Road in Cheektowaga couldn't handle the weight. Its roof collapsed on Wednesday. And BJ's Wholesale Club in Blasdell is currently shut down after engineers discovered the roof had been compromised and is in danger of collapsing.
There was also a roof collapse at a home in the City of Buffalo on Wednesday. Thankfully no one was hurt. But officials say they expect more of that with new snowfall and even over the weekend when temperatures begin to rise into the 50s.
