A health care facility next to a warehouse evacuated residents into the dining room after the warehouse’s roof collapsed Wednesday morning.
The building on Union Road in Cheektowaga was formerly owned by Rosa’s and is currently owned by Dave’s Christmas stores. The owner says the back of the warehouse completely collapsed and the whole building could give way. There are concerns of a gas leak inside the building.
No one was inside the building at the time and all of the residents at Garden Gate Health Care Facility are okay. National Fuel is coming to the scene.
Crews at the health care facility are going on 36-hour long shifts as a result of the driving ban and inability of relief staff to get to the facility.
