Saint Patrick's Day DWI Patrols nets 9 arrests

Stepped up patrols this weekend lead to nine DWI arrests across Erie County this weekend.

Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard says many of the arrests were made because additional patrols funded through the county’s STOP-DWI program.

Here's a list of the arrests from the sheriff's office:

March 17, 3:03 A.M., Town of Clarence – Deputies Nati and Simmeth responded to reports of a vehicle off the roadway near 8285 Transit Road.  Their investigation determined the operator Jermaine Watkins, 27 of Buffalo, was intoxicated.  Watkins was charged with DWI, speeding, and moving unsafely from a lane. 

 

March 17, 11:36 P.M., Town of West Seneca – Sergeant Kaderli stopped a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard and Reserve Road after observing vehicle and traffic violations.  A test indicated Eric Gralke, 41 of West Seneca, was more than twice the legal limit and is charged with Aggravated DWI and multiple traffic infractions.  The defendant was released to a sober third party.

 

March 18, 2:06 A.M., Town of Clarence – Thomas George, 26 of Holland, was stopped on Transit Road by Deputy Mulhern for vehicle and traffic violations.  After failing standard field sobriety tests and a breath test indicating a BAC more than twice the legal limit he was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI and multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.  The defendant was released to a sober third party.

 

March 18, 2:23 A.M., Town of Alden – John Miszuk, 27 of Akron, was arrested for DWI following an investigation into a property damage accident on Peters Corners Road by Deputy Biegasiewicz.  Miszuk is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

 

March 19, 12:27 A.M., Town of Aurora – Brian Lawrence, 23 of Arcade, was stopped by Deputy Biegasiewicz on Olean Road.  The Deputy’s investigation resulted in Lawrence being arrested for DWI.  The defendant was released on tickets.

 

March 19, 4:13 A.M., Town of Cheektowaga – Deputy Zamorek arrested Stanley Blaszczyk, III, 29 of Sloan, for DWI following a traffic stop.  Blaszczyk was also issued a ticket for an improper turn and later released to a relative.

 

March 19, 4:28 P.M., Town of Elma – Deputy Biegasiewicz responded to the Clinton and Transit Road area for reports of a road rage incident.  The Deputy located the vehicle and began investigating the incident.  As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Elma resident was arrested for DWI.  The defendant was released to a relative.

 

March 19, 8:55 P.M., Town of Clarence – Deputy Biegasiewicz stopped a vehicle on Main Street for speeding.  The deputy administered a breath test to the operator and the results indicated a BAC of more than two and a half times the legal limit.  Brian Evertt, 24 of Alden, was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI and vehicle and traffic violations. 

 

March 19, 11:07 P.M., Town of Elma – Deputy Szczepanski responded to complaints of an erratic driver on Route 400.  The Deputy located the vehicle on Bowen Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver failed to stop for the emergency lights and sirens.  When the driver finally stopped the Deputy’s investigation resulted in the operator, Raymondo Gandolfo – 62 of Elma, being arrested for DWI.  The defendant’s BAC level was more than twice the legal limit.  Gandolfo was released to a sober third party.
