Homeland security program director at Medaille College, Steven MacMartin, advised to be aware of surroundings, especially after the explosions Saturday in New York City and New Jersey. He said this is something that could happen anywhere.

"It can always happen here," said MacMartin. "It can happen anywhere but where you would expect to see it is something drawing large crowds... a parade, a race, a sporting event. Somewhere where there's a backup occurring, at an airport, bus station. Problem is, it's places where people live their lives. What you need to do is live your life with the idea that maybe you have to up your level of personal security."

MacMartin recommended avoiding large crowds and long lines. He also said to avoid getting stuck in long lines at busy venues. He advised to get there earlier to beat the crowd.
