Multiple fire companies responded Thursday afternoon to reports of black smoke and fire coming out of a unit of the Robert Moses Power Plant on Lewiston Road.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m. in unit two of the power plant, and a portion of the facility was evacuated.
No injuries have been reported.
Town of Niagara Fire, Lewiston Fire and a fire crew from the Niagara Falls Air Base were on scene. A spokesman for the New York Power Authority says there is no evidence of an explosion at this time.
The plant is still operating and meeting its power requirements.
