A notice out to parents of students at St. Gregory the Great School notified parents of a teacher arrest.
According to Amherst Police, Scott Schaefer, 43, was arrested and criminally charged for endangering the welfare of a child and disseminating indecent materials to a minor.
Schaefer's charges stem from inappropriate text messages with a minor.
Principal Patricia Freund says Schaefer was placed on administrative leave.
"We stress that, as always, the safety and security of our students is our top priority," Freund says.
Schaefer was arraigned and is being held in the Erie County Holding Center on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is being released at this time.
