Monsignor Dino Lorenzetti, 96, enlisted in the United States Army on November 13th, 1942, nearly 75 years to the day... his name has been added to the Wall of Honor at the Buffalo and Erie Naval Military Park.
"May my name be a representative of all of those beautiful people who have faith and who have courage, who have conviction and they were ready to die and give up themselves totally and completely," Lorenzetti said.
Monsignor Lorenzetti was ordained a priest in 1953 and still celebrates mass on a fill-in basis. He has served many parishes in the Buffalo Diocese.
Lorenzetti served as Staff Sergeant of the US Army's 312th Depot Repair Squadron Supply Unit.
The Wall of Honor is a tribute and remembrance to Western New Yorkers who have served and sacrificed.
Six western New Yorkers were added to the Wall of Honor.
Several bars and breweries teamed up with the Park for a "Toast to the Troops," collecting donations to benefit the naval park.
Flying Bison Brewery on Seneca Street is raising a glass to veterans with a veterans day appreciation party from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. with all proceeds going to the park.
