Buffalo police responded to reports of a red SUV crashing into the gate at FBI headquarters in downtown Buffalo late Thursday night.

Initial reports from dispatchers indicated the driver left the area of the crash, but was stopped by Buffalo police at West Chippewa Street and Franklin Street. When a 7 Eyewitness News photographer arrived, he found a red GMC SUV at the scene with signs of front end damage. The vehicle was still running and the windshield wipers were on.

An ambulance was also at the scene, but it was unclear whether anyone was treated at the scene.

An eyewitness reported observing Buffalo police officers surrounding the vehicle "with guns drawn." The witness says a man exited the vehicle and told officers "the feds were after him." The witness reported that it appeared as though the man cooperated with police as he was placed in handcuffs and led from the scene.

As of early Friday morning, the driver of the vehicle has not been identified. 7 Eyewitness News has reached out to a Buffalo Police Department spokesperson.
