Three Section VI football teams have punched their tickets to the NYSPHSAA State Championships.
The games will be held at the Dome in Syracuse November 24th and 26th.
Lancaster will either end their season with a perfect record or with their first and only loss of the season. The Legends beat Cicero-North Syracuse 35-21 in the Class AA semifinal game to advance. It'll be the program's first ever appearance at the State Championship.
West Seneca West's historic run continues as they will play for a state title in the Class A game. The Indians beat Whitesboro 42-6 in the semifinals to advance. Like Lancaster, the Indians will be playing for a State Championship for the first time in program history.
The State Championship game is familir to Maple Grove who will be playing for a Class D title for the 2nd straight year. The Red Dragons beat Tioga 32-27 in the semifinals to advance after Nick Fabrizio scored the game-winning touchdown with less than four minutes left in the game.
Cheektowaga fell short in a 48-28 defeat to Chenango Forks in the Class B semifinal game. The Warriors had a hard time stopping a Blue Devils team that with the win, advanced to the state final for the 5th straight season. Cheektowaga ends the year with a 10-2 record.
Cleveland Hill fell short in a 63-56 defeat to Skaneateles in the Class C semifinal game. The Golden Eagles put up 50 points in the 1st half with Javon Thomas leading the way with 353 yards on the ground (418 total) in the half. Cleveland Hill ends the year with a 10-2 record.
