For the first time since January of 2013, the Buffalo Sabres have more wins than losses. The Sabres beat the Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 Monday afternoon and are now 2-1 overall on the season.
Monday's win was a night of firsts as the Sabres grabbed their first win streak of the season and the first goal by a defender. Last year, it took 28 games for a Sabres defender to score.
The second period was the most productive of the day for the Sabres as they grabbed three goals on four shots. Jack Eichel, who also scored in the first period, got things going while Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville each added a goal later in the period.
Carter Hutton, making his third start in goal, stopped 35 of 37 shots.
The Sabres will return home on Thursday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. They then hit the West Coast for a five game road trip before returning to KeyBank Center on October 25th.
