BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel has been suspended for two games without pay by the NHL for an illegal check to the head. Eichel will forfeit around $107,000 in salary for his two-game suspension.

The incident happened Saturday evening against the Colorado Avalanche when Eichel hit Colorado forward Carl Soderberg. Following the hit, Soderberg went to the bench but then re-entered the game shortly after.

Eichel has 25 goals and 47 assists in 65 games this season. The Sabres host Dallas on Tuesday and Pittsburgh on Thursday.
