BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — After starting off 2020 with two straight wins the Buffalo Sabres are back in the loss column, falling to the St. Louis Blues 5-1 on Thursday night. With the loss, the Sabres are now 19-18-7 overall.
The Blues took a 2-0 lead after one period with Tyler Bozak and Robert Thomas scoring goals. On Bozak's goal, Niko Mikkola tallied his first NHL career point.
Jack Eichel got the Sabres on the board in the 2nd period, capitalizing on an open lane to cut the deficit in half. It was his 27th goal of the season and is now just one goal shy of matching his career high.

The Blues added three more goals following Eichel's, their third coming on their lone power play opportunity of the night. The Blues wound up out-shooting the Sabres 31-19.
Linus Ullmark, making his 8th straight start, finished with 26 saves in net. The Sabres are back at home on Saturday when they host Vancouver at 1 p.m.
