Trade details: 

Buffalo gets: conditional 2019 first-round pick (first if Kane signs, second if he walks in July), conditional fourth-round pick and Dan O'Reagan (prospect). 

San Jose gets: Evander Kane 

At long last, the Buffalo Sabres have traded Evander Kane. With just minutes to spare before the 3 p.m. NHL trade deadline, Kane was sent to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a conditional 2019 first-round pick, conditional fourth-round pick, and prospect Danny O'Reagan.

O'Reagan, 24, has split this season with the Sharks and their AHL affiliate the San Jose Barracuda. In 19 NHL games, this season O'Reagan has four assists. In 31 AHL games, the newest Sabres prospect has seven goals, 18 assists, and 25 points.

O'Reagan played at Boston University with current Sabres Jack Eichel and Evan Rodrigues. Eichel and O'Reagan were also teammates with Team USA. 

Kane, 26, joined the Sabres in February of 2015 when he was acquired in a seven-player deal with the Winnipeg Jets. In his three seasons with the Sabres, Kane scored 68 goals and added 50 assists [118 points] in 196 games. 

This season Kane started the year on an absolute tear but has since cooled down at a startling rate. Since December 22, [26 games] Kane has only seven points [5G, 2A]. In the Sabres' first 35 games Kane had 33 points.
