Jake McCabe inked a three-year extension, the Sabres announced on Thursday.
In 77 games the 22-year-old defenseman scored four goals and added 10 assists.
According to General Fanager, McCabe's deal is worth $4.8 million and $1.6 million per year. One of the cornerstone pieces to the young defensive group with the Sabres, McCabe averaged more than 19 minutes per game -- the seventh most among skaters. He worked his way up to a top-four D-man.
Defensively, he ranked fourth behind fellow blue liners Rasmus Ristolainen (25:16 TOI) and Zach Bogosian (22:20 TOI) and Josh Gorges (20:27) in ice time. McCabe was plus-6 as well.
McCabe appeared in seven games for the Sabres during the 2013-2014 season following his playing career at the University of Wisconsin. He played in just two the following year, spending most of his time with AHL Rochester.
