Dean Lombardi helped the Los Angeles Kings win two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014.
According to Sportsnet he interviewed for the GM vacancy in Buffalo on Thursday.

However, during his press conference on Friday Sabres owner Terry Pegula said his decision to fire both Tim Murray and Dan Bylsma was made following the end of year review meetings and not before Thursday's decision.
When asked the time frame of the firings and about the report regarding Lombardi, Pegula said they hadn't talked to any candidates yet.
"We haven't talked to anybody," he said. "Put that in the Jack demanded his coach be fired category. It's a pure fabrication."
