Lindy Ruff has officially been hired as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers, the team announced on Monday.
Ruff spent the last four seasons with the Dallas Stars and was fired in April after the club missed the playoffs for the second time under his watch.

The Stars went 165-122-41 in four campaigns with Ruff as their bench boss and advanced as far as the Western Conference Semifinals during the 2015-2016 season.
The 57-year-old, who played 10 seasons with the Sabres as a player, returned to Buffalo in 1997 and spent 15 years as the head coach before being fired 17 games into the 2012-2013 season.
