BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It appears Johan Larsson has played his last game with the Buffalo Sabres. On Tuesday, Magnus Wahlman, a radio commentator in Sweden, tweeted that Larsson is leaving the NHL and plans to return to the SHL to play for Brynäs IF.

Larsson, 26, played in 73 games for the Sabres last season scoring six goals and adding eight assists [14 points]. Acquired from the Minnesota Wild in 2013, Larsson appeared in 330 games with the Sabres over the last six seasons tallying 79 points [32G,47A].
Larsson was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1. Last season with the Sabres, Larsson had a $1.55M salary [$1.475 cap hit].
