Report: Sabres place Taylor Fedun on waivers

Report: Sabres place Taylor Fedun on waivers
Posted

Another day, another roster move for the Buffalo Sabres. According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet in Toronto, the Sabres have placed defenseman Taylor Fedun on waivers.

Fedun, 28, has seven assists and a +3 plus/minus rating in 25 games with the Sabres this season.

If claimed, Fedun will become the property of whichever team claims him. If he's not claimed by noon on Sunday then Fedun stays in the organization and can return to AHL Rochester.

Bove's take:

Fedun was great in his first couple games with the Sabres but Buffalo had to make a move with Cody Franson returning from injury. The Sabres haven't had a healthy blue line for a while, so this waive is overdue.

While I like Fedun, the Sabres have been turning to fellow Rochester call-up Justin Falk more and more. Fedun without question provides more offense, but Falk is a big body that can log minutes on the penalty kill.

For the sake oh how the season has gone, I'm sure General Manager Tim Murray is hoping that Fedun clears waivers and can return to Rochester. He provides the Amerks with a viable option and also can be recalled if the Sabres find themselves in another pinch.
