BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — After days or reports and rumors it appears Todd McLellan won't be the next head coach of the Buffalo Sabres. On Friday afternoon Bob McKenzie from TSN tweeted that McLellan was discussed as a candidate but a deal was never finalized.
McKenzie adds the expectation is now that McLellan will take the Los Angeles Kings job, an opening the 51-year-old coach has been tied to for weeks.
On Sunday the Sabres parted ways with former head coach Phil Housley after two seasons with the organization. In his two years as head coach, Housley had a 58-84-22 record.
Todd McLellan is no longer a consideration to be the head coach in BUF. The Sabres identified McLellan as a candidate and had some dialogue this week but an offer/deal was never formalized/finalized. The expectation is McLellan may be the next head coach in LA.
