According to TSN's Ryan Rishaug, Jimmy Vesey and the Buffalo Sabres have engaged in last minute talks before he becomes a free agent on Tuesday.

CSN New England reported last Wednesday that according to sources the Blackhawks, Rangers and Devils had emerged as front runners and that the Bruins, Maple Leafs and Sabres had fallen back in the race to land Harvard's Hobey Baker Award winner.

Bleacher Report's Adrian Dater tweeted Thursday Vesey had narrowed his decision down to the Leafs and Blackhawks.

Representative Peter Dontatelli released this statement to 7 Eyewitness Sports Reporter Nick Filipowski as speculation continued to swirl regarding his client and where he could play in September.

"There are no front runners. Jimmy will go through the process and Buffalo will be part of that process. Everything said or read until that time is speculation."
