Sabres fall to Blue Jackets 4-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In their second preseason game of the 2019-2020 season, the Buffalo Sabres fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 at Nationwide Arena.

Jake McCabe scored the Sabres lone goal on a shot from the point in the second period that briefly tied the game. Rasmus Asplund picked up the lone assist on the play.

Emil Bernstrom opened the scoring for the Blue Jackets in the first period, beating Sabres goaltender Linus Ullmark on a one-timer from just outside the faceoff circle. Kole Sherwood scored in the second period to give the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead after McCabe's goal.

In the third period, Sonny Milano put away the game for the Blue Jackets, scoring their third goal of the evening. Zac Dalpe added an empty-net goal in the final minutes.

The Sabres will have Wednesday off and return to practice on Thursday. Buffalo will then have back-to-back games against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday [@ Toronto] and Saturday [@KeyBank Center].
