Sabres forward Jack Eichel diagnosed with high-ankle sprain, out indefinitely

UPDATE: Sabres announced this afternoon Eichel suffered a high-ankle sprain in last night's game against the Boston Bruins and will be out indefinitely.

The same injury sidelined Eichel for the first six weeks of last season. 

Second high-ankle sprain for Eichel in back to back years. Last year was about a six week recovery. No need to rush him back if he’s on a similar timeline #Sabres

ORIGINAL: Just when Buffalo Sabres fans thought things couldn't get any worse, they did.

In the first period of Saturday's game against the Boston Bruins, Sabres forward Jack Eichel fell awkwardly to the ice, appearing to injure his right leg/ankle. 

Eichel immediately skated into the Sabres locker room and never returned. In 54 games this season, Eichel leads the Sabres with 53 points [22G, 31A].

Injury update: Jack Eichel will not return tonight.

Last year Eichel missed the first month and a half of the season after suffering a high-ankle sprain in practice the day before the regular season started. 

At this point the severity of the injury is to be determined. 

The Sabres went on to beat the Bruins, 4-2.
