BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — For the fourth time in six days, the Sabres came up short, falling to the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Tuesday.
With the loss, the Sabres finish their West Coast road trip winless [0-4] and now have almost no chance at making the playoffs, sitting 12 points back of the Maple Leafs for the third spot in the Atlantic Division with 16 games to play.
Kyle Connor opened the scoring for the Jets in the first period. Two minutes later Connor's teammate Tucker Poolman doubled the Jets' lead with a shorthanded goal.
Less than four minutes into the second period, Connor scored his goal of the night, making it 3-0.
Rasmus Ristolainen scored the Sabres lone goal in the second period, converting on a shot from the side of the net that snuck past Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
The Sabres now return home, where they'll host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
