Sabres take Dylan Cozens with 7th overall pick in 2019 NHL Draft

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The 2019 NHL Draft is underway and the Buffalo Sabres have the newest member of their organization. With the 7th overall pick on Friday night, the Sabres selected Dylan Cozens, a center from Canada.

This past season, Cozens played with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League where he scored 34 goals and had 50 assists. He then went on to play with the Canada U-18 squad where he scored four goals and had nine points in seven games. Cozens becomes the first Canadian skater that Jason Botterill has taken as General Manager of the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres pick one more time in the first round with the 31st overall pick. They also own one 3rd round pick (#67), one 4th round pick (#98), three 6th round picks (#160, #175, #177) and one 7th round pick (#191). The NHL Draft resumes Saturday.
