Watch: Sabres' Eichel re-energized, ready to take major steps

Posted

After a summer filled with shake-ups and surprises, hockey is officially back. On Thursday morning the Buffalo Sabres reported to training camp at KeyBank Center, one day before they'll start on-ice practices and just four days before their preseason opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.

Jack Eichel was the first to speak with reporters, cracking jokes and sporting some new scruff as he gets ready to attempt to make the playoffs for the first time as a Sabre.

"You want to create a culture,  you want to create a new identity as a group,"  Eichel said. "I think last year we've put that behind us at this point. There are a lot of new people in here, there is a new mindset, there is a new standard and I think you'll see a different group of guys with the way we conduct ourselves and handle ourselves."

Eichel went on to discuss the addition of Rasmus Dahlin, the anticipation for the upcoming season and plenty more. Watch the entire interview above!
