While the Bills have closed shop at St. John Fisher College, the Sabres are getting set to open training camp in downtown Buffalo.
Minnesota native Kyle Okposo is back home in St. Paul for a final tune-up, hitting the ice with other NHLers as they also prepare for either training camp or the World Cup of Hockey, which will take place next month in Toronto.
Okposo is only 28, but heading into his first season in Buffalo, he's kind of the elder statesman in the locker room.
"I'm not old, but it feels old when you walk in the room," he said. "You've got a lot of 20 and 21 year old staring back at you. Just try to get some experience and do what I can to help out."
The average age of the Sabres roster is 25. Fifteen of the 26 players currently listed on the roster are 25 years old or younger.
