UB knocked off Canisius 65-52 Thursday to improve to 8-0 tying the school’s current best start to a season, which was set in 2000.
"I mean, our goals at the start of the season were to go undefeated in conference play but, I mean now we have to set our goals higher, we want to keep going undefeated as long as we can,” Junior guard Stephanie Reid said.
“We want to win the MAC championship again and we want to get past that first round and get to the round of 32. We just want to improve every year,” added Reid.
JoAnna Smith led the way for the Bulls with 23 points. Reid picked up eight assists and had seven rebounds in the 13 point win.
"We're just trying to get better. We're a team that really trusts each other offensively and defensively and it's really helping us with our success this year."
Sara Hinriksdottir led the Griffs with 12 points but a late charge by Canisius wasn’t enough to hand UB their first loss of the season.
UB will have to wait more than a week until their next game when they take on St. Bonaventure (5-4) on Wednesday December 21 at Alumni Arena.
"We're just pushing for greatness,” Reid concluded. “We don't want to settle for anything.”
