Throughout this season, Christian Young’s draft stock has been on the rise and now he’s close to achieving his childhood dream.
The Niagara County Community College ace was selected in the 23rd round by the Oakland Athletics on the final day of the MLB draft.
After spending a year away from the game, Young returned to the diamond, posted a 9-0 mark and helped lead the Thunderwolves back to the Junior College World Series.
“I've said it before, it's been the most crazy, hectic experience of my life. At the same time, it's been the best experience. Going from doing nothing, to this year doing my thing, playing baseball and just having fun. I was excited. Probably the most excited I've ever been. This is everyone's dream."
Young said he's leaning toward returning to NCCC in the fall, but that he'll make a decision once he receives an offer from the A's and how his workouts go this summer.
