This year, due to the pandemic, the Ronald McDonald 5k run is going virtual. Sally Vincent, executive director of Ronald McDonald House says this year they are taking it from their house to yours to make it virtual. Sally says this is major event for them. This is their largest fundraising event that Ronald McDonald House does in the course of the year, so it is important to them to hold it and try to make up what they need to support their families staying at the house.
For 37 years the Ronald McDonald House has been taking care of families while their children are seriously ill in a local hospital here. They provide a comfortable place for them to stay near the hospital so they can spend more quality time with their child while they are hospitalized.
Registration is $20 and the run window opens this Saturday, July 25th. You have until 8pm on Wednesday, July 29th to complete your run and record your time. You have 5 days to complete your walk, run or jog. You can complete the race anyway you like. You can also “fund the run” and make a donation without walking or running. Everyone who registers gets a run pack which includes a mask and hand sanitizer. You can pick up your run pack curbside Thursday and Friday from 4 – 7pm at the Ronald Mc Donald House. All you have to do is drive in and a volunteer will bring it right out to your car.
Sally Vincent says they are so grateful for the community that has already registered and those of you who have not signed up yet, there’s still time and they are inviting you to go to their website so you can see just how important your participation is.
