Dr. Jessica Cruz from the Buffalo Medical Group says the Buffalo 60 Strong calendar was really designed to help kick-off their Senior Care Advantage One program. This program uniquely chose seniors like Karen who have been giving back to the community to help them navigate the complexities of Medicare coverage and other health care options.

Karen Calandra, 60 Strong ambassador suffered 30 years with psoriasis all over her body and psoriatic arthritis and then she came down with thyroid cancer in 2011. She says she was only 55 years old and was wondering what in the world she was doing wrong. Calandra says that’s when as a registered nurse she went back to school and learned about holistic health and that’s when she learned food is actually medicine. She changed her diet and started to feel great and her psoriasis started to go away and no more new joint symptoms. Now, she says, she has the blessed ability to teach other people in virtual classes. She even wrote a book called Lose the Sugar, You’re Sweet Enough. She says she may be 60 something but she is young at heart and she has a lot to share.

Dr. Cruz says Karen and the other ambassadors on the calendar were chosen by celebrity judges and they all serve as role models that give back to their community. Dr. Cruz says number one, prioritizing their health, staying active and giving back in different ways.

You can purchase the calendars for $15 at Buffalo60strong.comand the proceeds go to Hospice and Palliative Care Buffalo.
