Mel camp visited Angelic Holt, owner of Scholar Toddler Day Care. Angelic decided she would pull together some book bags to help people out and posted it on Facebook because she wanted to help a few people out. She was inundated with requests. She ended up dropping off 150 book bags and she is doing it all over again. She needs your help.
Understanding the burden back to school places on so many families she has stepped up to spearhead this book bag drive. She said there were times when she needed someone to drop off a book bag to her and she says she is not embarrassed to say it. Angelic Holt says she is glad the roles are reversed, and she is able to drop off a book bag to someone else. While Angelic knew families needed help, the book drive showed her just how badly that help is needed. This is why she is doing a second round of book bags. She adds that because she was doing it, she could actually see the need. She says a lot of us don’t want to talk about it and it needs to be talked about and she says our low-income families struggle a lot. There are families that can’t just go into the store and sometimes spend $100 - $150 on school supplies.
This is where you can help. Angelic already gave away 150 book bags and she still has over 75 requests from families reaching out to her about the book bag drive and how they can get supplies.
She says she can’t stop at 150 bags she has to go further. Her goal is 300 book bags. You can help support the Scholar Toddler book bag drive. Every donation helps. Angelic says if 100 people donate pencils then she has pencils for 100 kids.
