Katie Morse gives a first look at today’s headlines.

A lot of people have been writing into the newsroom about the state mandate requiring everyone to wear masks when they are out in public and you can’t social distance. A lot of shoppers have reached out to us because they are frustrated that not everybody is following the rules. 7 Eyewitness news took those concerns to the local officials who tell us there really isn’t any guidance given as how to enforce that mandate but they are still encouraging people to protect themselves and especially other in pubic. That’s what these masks are designed to do.
There are now more than 1,000 confirmed cases in Buffalo alone and the number of cases in Erie County is sitting about 2,600 and almost 200 people in our area have lost their lives to this virus. Still the numbers across the state are remaining steady so that’s somewhat a good sign.
New York State also did that antibody study this week. We found an estimated 2.5 million people in the state have come in contact with COVID-19 and 3,000 people have been tested at those pop-up sites. There were a couple of them in WNY and the antibody test showed 14% of the people have antibodies. That means they were exposed to the virus. They could have been a-systematic. They may have never known they were exposed to it.
