It happens every year, winter’s chilly temperatures and lower humidity levels, combined with indoor artificial heating, wreak havoc on our skin. And we often forget that our skin care regimen, much like our wardrobe, should change from one season to the next.
It's a complete myth that men’s skin is any less sensitive than womens. Dr. Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research dermatology that it has only been recently that men have started to take care of their skin.
As we move into the colder weather Dr. Zeichner says you need to make sure you are buying moisturizer and applying the moisturizer. He recommends a high-quality fragrance-free product something like Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting cream. This is a great product for men who don’t want to put on multiple products because this is a great multitasker because it also smooths lines and wrinkles.
Research has shown the best time to apply moisturizer is within five minutes of washing the skin because the skin is still damp, and you want to lock in that hydration.
The big issue with skin going into wintertime, in the environment of COVID, are your facemasks. Just like any other fabric that is touching your skin regularly you want to wash it to keep it clean. Dr. Zeichner recommends fragrance free dye free detergent something like Tide Free and Gentle. He says fragrances and dyes can cause allergens to the skin, so you want to make sure you are using the right detergent for your fabrics especially when it comes to a face mask.
